Review by Catherine Jarman

For those hard-to-talk-about childhood situations, experiences and rituals, Stepping Stories provides lovely, developmentally appropriate, personalized children’s books that can be a powerful tool in the parental toolbox. Book subjects include the many milestones in a child’s life, such as going to the dentist/doctor, going to school, potty training, and new siblings – just to name a few.

They also tackle some of the more monumental hard-to-talk-about events that a child may face in his or her young life, such as the death of a beloved pet, divorce, moving, illness and even love. New subjects appear to be in the works with an ever-expanding library.

When you select the story (or stories), you are directed to a quick questionnaire used to personalize your particular story. You are given the option to purchase an ebook or printed version. A couple clicks and then they work their magic!

Stepping Stories refers to your child as the “hero” of each book. There is no better description! When you turn to the inside flap, and your child sees his picture and likeness in the illustration, he lights up with excitement!

As you move through the story, you and your child watch the hero triumph. Our story tackled bedtime. We would read the story after dinner to our 22-month-old to prepare her for what was to come next. Helping to make the transition from daytime to nighttime easier, our baby wanted to emulate her own hero in her book!

These books would make great gifts for friends and family, and a great addition to your home library!

*What exactly does a sponsored product review mean? Well, it goes a little something like this: unlike all of our educational content blogs where we receive NO compensation, for our S.O.S reviews Mommybites has been compensated by companies to review and discuss their product. This helps us pay outside bloggers (ones not affiliated with Mommybites, nor the companies themselves) to try out and review the products. This insures that all the reviewers writing these reviews are not influenced in any way. As usual, the writers will always give their honest opinions, findings, beliefs, or experiences on all topics, products, and services.

The views and opinions expressed on this blog are purely the blog contributor’s. Any product claim, statistic, quote or other representation about a product or service should be verified with the manufacturer or provider. Writers may have conflicts of interest, and their opinions are their own.
