My mom had rushed home from work one night and was scrambling to get dinner together and my sister and I set the table and were impatiently waiting to eat- dinner smelled so good! We kept asking what was for dinner and my mom kept saying it was special. She had thrown together everything she could find into a one of a kind dish that ended up delicious- we named it special and it is comfort food for my kids and niece and nephew too. Also, we were summering abroad once and our last night on vacation we cleared out the fridge using all ingredients for a yummy chicken dish we nicknamed after the city we were in- it was a hit so we recreate it from time to time and it gets better and better.

When I was growing up, we ate a lot of fresh fruit. We only serve fruit for dessert and my daughter thinks watermelon, blueberries and strawberries are the biggest treat ever.

As a young child I can remember being given fresh fruits in addition to jared baby food. I had a working mother and a father that stayed home caring for me. Aside form that I can recall my mother and father more often than not cooking fresh meals. Now that I have my own child I have worked hard to start him with the proper foods finding the freshest fruits and vegetables. I’ve thus far have made everything he has ever eaten since he was given the okay to eat mushed foods. I enjoy knowing that I am teaching my child good eating habits and that he is being given 100% nutritional food and I am changing somethings that I was raised on like processed baby food.

We grew up on all home cooked meals, made with whole grains and home grown, or locally grown, fruits and vegetables. We do tend to order out more than I did growing up, but I make sure we all eat together as a family every night, and I feed my 2 year old the same food my husband and I eat. I try to buy locally when I can, but growing my own food isn’t quite as easy here! Thank goodness for farmers markets.

I grew up on lots and lots of fruits, and strawberries were my favorite food, no matter how they were made, and they are my daughter’s, too.

I think I had homemade stuff until my brother was born. He was a handful! I’m making homemade food. It just looks so much better. I’m trying to introduce more foods as well so my son has a broad range palate.

I grew up on all home cooked meals…including baby food. I also make everything from scratch, only I stick to food higher in whole gfrains and no trans fats, which is not what I grew up on.
