Teleclass: How To Promote Early Reading and Comprehension Skills

7-23-13 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Here is a secret: You cannot “teach” a child to read. All parents do is provide skills for their children to apply when they are ready. Reading is like a light bulb; it just turns on one day. The good news is that there are so many ways to encourage this skill and you do not have to be a teacher to do it!

This tele-class will provide ways to increase your child’s early reading and comprehension skills. It will address such questions as:

  • How can I foster literacy (beginning letters/sounds at home) without it feeling like “school”?
  • How can I get my child more interested in books/reading?
  • What are some interesting ways to practice spelling and identify sight words over the summer?

And much more!

Amanda Lehrman, founder of TheMommaFiles, is a trained teacher and curriculum consultant. She attended Fordham University and received an M.S.T in Elementary Education and has worked with the Accelerated Literacy Learning program as well as Teachers College Reading and Writing projects, Kaplan K-12 and Catapult Learning. Amanda currently teaches 3rd through 5th grade students in a Gifted & Talented program in Edison, NJ.

*You will receive dial-in information upon completing your registration.

Not sure if you can make the teleclass? Don’t worry! Everyone who registers will receive a link to the taped call, so be sure to sign up.
