All the parenting books say one of the key strategies for dealing with children in the throes of a temper tantrum is to stay calm and speak in a calm voice. If parents are agitated and yell, everything escalates. But no one ever says HOW to actually achieve that, especially when we are feeling overwhelmed, embarrassed and frustrated! In this tele-class we will address actual strategies for parents to use to stay calm in the midst of dealing with a child’s tantrum. These same approaches help in any limit setting situation with our children. Positives outcomes could be:
- understanding more about why children have tantrums
- feeling more in control when your child has a tantrum or misbehaves
- having tools to more quickly and effectively deal with tantrums
- feeling better about how we can manage our own tempers in the midst of parenting distress
