In this video, Dr. Rebecca Mannis, a Certified Learning Specialist, talks about the what ‘twice exceptional” means. She also discusses ways that parents of elementary and middle school children can better identify and address learning styles and challenges and therefore support reading, writing and comprehension at home.  She addresses metacognitive awareness, a neuropsychological approach, and how to use your child’s natural strengths to compensate for his or hear specific learning challenges, ultimately making homework both easier and more enjoyable.

In addition to writing many eduction articles, Dr. Mannis is the executive director of Ivy Prep. She is a certified learning specialist and holds her doctorate in child development. Dr. Mannis consults to schools and corporations about learning disabilities, remediation, individualized instruction and adaptive technology.
