Transform Your Weeknight Dinner Routine with Just Add Cooking
*Don’t miss a special bonus offer for Mommybites readers below
I was invited last Monday to a wonderful Just Add Cooking class demo. For those of you who don’t know who they are yet, they will transform your weeknight dinner routine. Forget about all the stress and hassle of making sure you took out the meat from the freezer in the morning or walking the isles at the supermarket trying to spice up your dinner routine. Just Add Cooking will deliver fresh pre-measured ingredients sourced from New England along with easy to follow recipes right at your door.
I’ve known about the service for about a year but I’ve been a little hesitant to be part of it because my eldest is a very picky eater. Also, my husband travels a lot and I don’t necessarily feel the need of having the meals delivered on a weekly basis. I was pleasantly surprised to hear that you have 7 weekly recipes to choose from every week featuring poultry, beef, pork, seafood and vegetarian options. Several recipes each week are also gluten-free. Since my kids love cooking, it’s a great way to empower them and let them take part in choosing what we will cook each week. Also, for those weeks where it’s just me and the boys and its ok to just eat PB&J, we have the flexibility of skipping as many weeks as we need.
For starters, I was very impressed by the packaging. A huge credit to them because almost all of the materials used to ship are recyclable. Everything you need for your recipe comes inside the box freshly packed that same morning. Prior to the shipments arrival, you have the ability to select as many recipes as you need that week for your box out of a variety of 7 recipes from around the world. Having the ability to choose from that many recipes makes it easier for me to introduce new foods to my kids. You can also cancel at any time up to the Wednesday before it ships (shipments are usually on Sundays).
I love that everything is pre-measured for you so if you love cooking with your children like I do, it’s as simple as giving them the pre-measure zip-lock to mix into the recipe. The best part about the recipes is that they take 30 minutes or less and are basically fool-proof. They even provide the instructions in a timeline so that you don’t have to think about what you need to start cooking first. Every recipe shows on the top right the calories, servings, difficulty level and time it takes to prepare.
Evenings with three kids are so busy that an easy level recipe like Seared Prawns with Salsa works great for me. If you’re a food lover, you can select more advanced recipes. You can view JAC library of recipes here.
