If you have a “mummy tummy” or a bulge in your belly that won’t go away no matter how much you exercise and watch your diet…then you probably have what is called a diastasis recti. This is a separation of the outermost abdominal muscles. This separation will also cause low back pain. A diastasis can be treated with the research-based 4 step Tupler Technique Program. This program was developed by Julie Tupler. She is an RN, childbirth educator, fitness instructor and creator of Maternal Fitness. Julie has worked with pregnant women and new moms since 1990.

This Diastasis Rehab package is what you need to help you close your diastasis. Included is the two-hour Lose Your Mummy Tummy DVD, Tupler Technique guidebook and Diastasis Rehab Splint. The DVD will teach you the Tupler Technique and a exercise routine incorporating the Tupler Technique. The guidebook is a small book that you can carry with you. It is a summary of the 4 steps of the Tupler Technique as well as a chart telling you what you should be doing daily and how to progress the exercises over six weeks. The splint is a corset-like binder designed to approximate (pull together) the separated muscles. Wearing a splint will speed up the healing process of the connective tissue as well as make the exercises more effective. A closed diastasis means a flatter belly and a stronger back.
