Education – Reading to the children is very important to Verena. Everyday she reads many books to the children. She has taught them how to pronounce words, she has helped them with their ABCs, and explained the meaning of new words to them.

Meals – Verena made home-cooked baby food and purees from scratch for my kids. She cooks delicious meals for my children, and is always teaching and reinforcing good manners and how to be polite and respectful during meals.

Reliability – Verena is incredibly reliable. In four years, she has never arrived late to our home in the morning. Additionally, I can count on one hand the number of unplanned sick days off that she took (and those are because my kids were the cause of her being sick). She was always very flexible and willing to stay late or work extra time if needed.

Play – Verena has worked in Brooklyn for many years and knows several neighborhoods quite well. She is proactive at finding playdates, activities and story time for my kids. Additionally, she takes the kids out to the playground as much as possible, and is always incredibly attentive when they are playing outside.

We were so lucky to find Indira! She has been a thoughtful and dedicated full-time caregiver for our son since he was six months old. She brought a confident calmness into our home, helping set daily routines, supporting his growth with healthy meals, and encouraging his social and physical development through visits to neighborhood libraries, parks and playgrounds. She anticipated and adapted to his developmental changes, keeping him engaged through singing, reading and age-appropriate play.

Indira stayed on top of every detail and kept us fully informed of the baby’s moods and needs. She took daily notes on his feeding and nap schedule so we could see how his day was going. My husband and I both usually work from home and are juggling so much, but she has always been flexible in working with our schedules and a great partner in our son’s care—easy to talk to, genuine, adaptable and considerate. It’s been a pleasure to get to know her, and truly joyful to watch the deep bond she and our son have developed as he’s grown.

We had always planned for our son to join his older sister’s preschool in the fall and we’re grateful that he had such a loving and committed nanny in his first year. We will miss her greatly! We’re moving out of nyc and unfortunately have to part ways with our amazing nanny. Looking to help find her next family. Our wonderful nanny Nicole is looking for her next family to love and support. Nicole has been with our family for two years, and we are now moving away and have to say goodbye. I am thrilled to write this letter of recommendation for Shanti, who has truly been an invaluable part of our family. From the moment we met her, she has been a constant source of comfort, joy and positivity in our lives. Our daughter begins kindergarten in the fall and we want to help Shanti find the best family possible. She is available starting anytime between July 1st and the beginning of September. One of Shanti’s many talents is her incredible creativity. She’s an amazing artist, and our daughter adores the fun and imaginative projects they create together. From mixing paints to exploring various materials, Shanti encourages creativity and learning in such a meaningful way. Shanti is also a hair styling expert—our daughter now insists that Shanti do her hair over me! Whether it’s cool braids or perfectly parted pigtails, she’s a pro at creating beautiful styles that our daughter loves and feels proud of.

Beyond her creative abilities, Shanti has been instrumental in teaching our daughter independence and responsibility. They work together on things like cleaning up after meals, tidying her room, tying her shoes and learning how to wash shampoo out of her hair. Shanti’s nurturing and patient approach helps our daughter feel confident in these tasks.

What stands out most about Shanti is her incredible way of guiding our daughter through challenges. When something goes wrong or misbehavior occurs, Shanti speaks to our daughter in a warm, kind manner, helping her understand the situation calmly. When we return home, Shanti thoughtfully shares what happened, giving us a chance to discuss and address things as a family.

And it’s not just our daughter who loves Shanti—our dog, Sadie, greets her every morning with love. On days when our dog walker is unavailable, Shanti willingly takes Sadie for a walk without hesitation. She’s someone who always sees what needs to be done and takes initiative. One day, when we were running low on chicken for Sadie, Shanti noticed and, without saying a word, picked up some groceries—along with chicken for our dog—and even cooked it! We were truly blown away by her thoughtfulness and ability to anticipate our needs.

Our family, sincerely, has been fortunate to have Shanti in our lives. Shanti is a rare gem. She is reliable, creative, loving, educationally oriented, and truly goes above and beyond in everything she does. Jannine cared for my son from 5 mos to 3.5 years from March 2022 to June 2025. She also provided limited support to my older daughters – light meal prep, laundry, school pickup and occasional driving. Her hours were M-Th 7-7 and F 7-3:30. She is experienced, reliable and responsible and can care for children from infancy through school age. She can care for multiple kids at a time, is a good driver, a good communicator and is flexible and easy to work with. Jannine managed my son’s daily routines as he grew and helped him adjust to foods, nap schedule changes, mobility, nap changes, etc (with our guidance as we are experienced parents). She has a close bond with him and helped him develop a network of friends in town and organized play dates with his preschool friends. Jannine is a hard worker, honest and trustworthy. She had a good relationship with my older girls (9, 11). Her daily tasks included light breakfast prep, unloading dishes, keeping kitchen and kid spaces tidy, doing kids laundry, driving my son to school and all of his activities, preparing his lunch and dinner and bathing him at night.

Tricia has been with us for 4.5 years and she has been a wonderful addition to our family. We are sad to lose her and tried to convince her to come with us, but she prefers to be in the city with a shorter commute/not live in.

Ideally Tricia is looking for a job downtown—she’s worked in Tribeca, the Financial District, Soho, the Village and with us in Chelsea, and is very knowledgeable about these neighborhoods and the surrounding areas—although she is open to other parts of the city. She’d ideally like to begin with a newborn and to stay with a family long term (she was with her last family for 14 years!). She’d like to work at least 40 hours a week. She’ll work early and late during the week with notice, but doesn’t like to work on weekends and does not travel.

This will be a hard transition for our family—Tricia genuinely cares for the girls, treating them like little sisters and integrating them into her close knit family. We absolutely love Dede. She has been working part-time looking after our 16 month old who is starting daycare in September, while working afternoons picking up a preschooler and taking them to art/swim/gym classes, to the playground, making playdates, cooking their meals, etc. Dede has decades of experience with children of all ages.

Prior to Dede, we were part of a nanny share with a lovely nanny and also had some part-time help in between, but didn’t know what we were missing until we met Dede!
