Where to start? Janet is extremely devoted caring and very devoted. Janet has been part of our family for the last 18 and half years. She joined when I had a newborn bay boy a 5 year old boy and a 7 year old boy, they weren’t the easiest. Then came 2 girls the baby is now 9. Janet always showed up, she never just didn’t come to work even in extreme weather. She always discussed and scheduling she needed to make sure it works for me. I moved the family to New Jersey from Brooklyn 7 years ago and Janet then came for 3 days as a live in and I had someone else for the other days. At this point my kids outgrew a live in and only I can have her the regular day hours but commuting daily to new jersey is just not an option. I only have the best and nicest things to say about her. From the moment we met Norissa, I’ve been so at peace knowing our son is in great hands. She spends time teaching him words and signs, and she’s even tackled some difficult issues we faced, like feeding aversion struggles and sleep schedule routines.
Norissa truly goes above and beyond. She’s extremely dependable and reliable and has even accommodated our changing schedules and requests for additional hours during the week or on weekends. My husband and I have truly come to depend on her – so much so that we don’t let anyone else babysit our son! My husband also goes out of town for work somewhat regularly, and I truly would not be able to handle things without her.
In addition to her nanny experience, she has a background in early childhood education and has experience working in daycares. She also has extensive experience with children with special needs or unique situations (autism, ADHD, j-tube feeding, etc.) and has taken care of kids from newborn to pre-teens.

We are saying goodbye to our nanny, Asha, next month as our son is in the process of transitioning to daycare. Alma is a kind, compassionate, and patient caregiver who has been a deeply positive presence in our son’s life and in our family more broadly. She is a source of comfort, joy, support, and love for our son, and has played an important role in his social and cognitive development. Before he started Pre-K in September 2025, Alma thoughtfully arranged playdates, ensured he had a healthy balance of indoor and outdoor activities, and regularly took him to the playground, the Children’s Museum, and the American Museum of Natural History. She was also an active participant in his daily gym classes at Elliott’s. Alma encouraged our son’s creativity by helping him take pride in his artwork and by joining him to color, cut, and create–she is a talented artist herself.
Alma was the primary person guiding our son through potty learning, beginning just before he turned two. Alma supported her early development through mobility and midline coordination exercises, played music for her, ensured she napped well, and fed her breastmilk when I was not available to nurse. Alma regularly prepares our son’s meals, including making him eggs for breakfast and thoughtfully preparing his snacks and lunches each day. Around the house, Alma makes his bed, tidies his room, and helps keep our living room, kitchen, and dining areas organized. She loads and unloads the dishwasher; handles the children’s laundry, and vacuums. Alma will kindly fold my laundry if it’s left in the dryer and I haven’t had a chance to get to it.

She occasionally surprises him with a small gift or museum trinket, and after holidays or long breaks, she often arrives with balloons or flowers. We especially cherish the photos Alma sends each evening, giving us a window into our son’s enriching, joyful days.
