Once I met Christine, we instantly connected which gave me a great feeling about her potential as a babysitter. I gave her all my specifications when it came to dietary restrictions, managing electronics and screen time, afterschool pick-up, and my daughters’ extracurricular activities. This is honestly one of the hardest parts of our move from New York to Europe. Yaya has been with us since our middle daughter was a newborn and has become part of our family. Julie has worked with our family for over 3 years. She started working with us when our younger son was only 2 months old, and we are only now parting ways as our son is moving into full day school and we can no longer offer full time work. We regularly have people complimenting my son’s good manners and it’s all thanks to Julie. She encourages polite manners and has patiently and compassionately taught our younger son so many great behaviours. Everytime they come home he takes off his shoes and coat, puts them away, and washes his hands calmly and independently thanks to Julie’s encouragement and consistency. My son also has severe eczema which meant we were very strict with how we introduced foods early on as we monitored for allergies, and she followed our lead and supported us well in that process.
Julie has been working in Brooklyn for over 20 years and has built a wonderful community. A few weeks into working with us she realized a friend of hers worked with the family across the street and now the kids are best friends. She is always out of the house with my son either on play dates with the many friends she has found for him or is taking him to various playgrounds, museums, the zoo, the aquarium, our local fire station (he’s on a first name basis with all of the fire fighters), and more. I never have to come up with activities for them as she’s already planned a fun day for my son before she even arrives. Though of course whenever I set something up, I can trust they will be there ready to go on time if not 15 minutes early.

Throughout the years, Grace was a steady, dependable presence in our children’s lives and an incredible source of support for us as working parents. She always put the kids’ needs first, was fully engaged with them, and stayed on top of everything. When we absolutely had to be in the office and a child was sick, Grace would even come in early to help us out.

She made sure the kids were where they needed to be, always early for activities and equipped with water and snacks. And when it came to pickups, she was ALWAYS early. I truly cannot overstate how punctual and dependable she is.
Grace also took care of all the little things that make a huge difference in family life. The kids’ room was tidy, their laundry was done, after-school snacks were ready when they got home, and lunches were prepared the night before. She helped take so much off my plate and gave me more time to spend with my kids.
Beyond being organized, Grace is wonderful with children. She reinforces good manners, handles meltdowns calmly and effectively, and knows how to negotiate with kids while maintaining appropriate boundaries. She balances warmth and fun with structure and good judgment.
And she is genuinely FUN to be around! Grace is jovial, always laughing, and loved by the kids, other nannies, and parents in the neighborhood. We know just how much people adore her because they constantly told us! She even came out to cheer on one of the dads in the neighborhood when he ran the marathon. She loves walking, enjoys taking the kids on neighborhood adventures, and is comfortable navigating public transportation when needed.
