It is bittersweet to pass on our lovely nanny Laurely. She has been a wonderful presence in our family’s life for the past year but with my youngest starting school in the Fall, we no longer need her full-time help.

What stands out most about Laurely is her calm, steady nature. No matter what the day brings—tantrums, schedule changes, sick kids, or the general chaos that comes with family life—she remains completely unflappable. She has a wonderful ability to stay calm under pressure and create a sense of stability for everyone around her.

She is also exceptionally flexible and accommodating. Whether we needed her to come earlier, stay later, or adjust plans at the last minute, she was always willing to help and did so graciously. We always knew we could rely on her.

Most importantly, she clearly finds so much joy in spending time with children. She always shares stories from their day, observations about their development and reasons she loves the boys.

The important deets:

– Schedule/Availability: We use Heather 20 hours a week, Monday through Thursday, 1pm – 6pm each day. An ideal situation would be for us to keep this schedule, but I am flexible either ad-hoc (as things arise) or if a later start is needed on our end. It’s preferable that we find someone who wants her for 15-30 hours a week in the mornings Monday through Thursday, with the option to use her all day on Fridays (we don’t use her on Friday).

Dada started working for our family in December of 2021. We had just welcomed our first son, William. I had extremely high standards and didn’t find the right person, until Dada. From the second I met Dada, I knew she was the person for us. I felt an instant connection and sense of trust with her. Dada has 20+ yrs of experience with children and exudes confidence. She walked into our home and immediately knew what to do. She helped me with sleep schedule, feeding and most importantly social and cognitive development. I gave birth again, shortly after William. I eventually stopped working to be home full time and Dada and I divided and conquered with the boys.
Both of my children had an instant connection and love for Dada. My youngest is a strong willed, active and independent baby and now toddler. Dada was the perfect fit for him. Again, she knows how to handle all types of children and help guide them and their behavior. My boys have always listened to Dada, she has a true gift!
Dada is extremely dependable, reliable and professional. She takes her job very seriously and has an amazing work ethic. Safety is always her number one priority. I trust her more than anyone with my children. She is extremely loving,caring and warm. I would often hear her saying good morning my love. She is a true gem and irreplaceable. She had had a profound impact on my boys and me. She helped me in so many ways and ultimately made me a better mother.

Rolande has worked with us for 5.5 years taking care of our now 7 yr old, 6 yr old, and 3 yr. old. She started when my 2nd was just 6 months and proved herself very capable of managing three young children. She helped us with school pick-up and drop-off both within Manhattan and when we moved up to Westchester County. She pays close attention to the children and has always kept them safe.
She is independently capable and very proactive in finding activities for the children by making playdates, finding local activities, taking the kids to the playground, and going to the library. Rolande managed the timing of naps, school pickups, snacks, etc. without blinking an eye. The kids feel very close to her and really enjoy spending time with her.
She is multilingual and we appreciated that she spoke French to our children, but she is also a fluent English speaker. She was always on time and very communicative with my husband and I to coordinate care, activities, and share photos of the kids’ adventures of the day. She helped our kids with getting out the door in the morning and prepared their lunches. Even though housekeeping was not part of her responsibility, she often found little ways to help clean up the kitchen or sweep up the kids crumbs. She always left things in better shape than when she arrived without us having to ask her.
She occasionally babysat for us in the evenings or on the weekend when it worked out for everyone’s schedules. When she did, she had no problem getting the kids fed, bathed, and into bed on time. We have really appreciated having her and are reluctantly letting her go because our kids will all be in school next year.

Our amazing previous nanny, Stephie, will shortly be available for a new family, and I cannot recommend her highly enough!
Stephie was a phenomenal addition to our family since day one, and our kids are still incredibly happy to have her in our lives. She worked with us as a live-in nanny from 2023 up until mid-2025 when our family relocated to Connecticut. Another family was lucky enough to scoop her up for the past year, but since they are also relocating out of the city, she is back on the market!

To say Stephie is capable is a massive understatement. When she started with us, she managed our 4, 3, and 1 year old with absolute grace. During her time with us, she not only guided them through major milestones until they were 7, 6, and 4, but she also cared for our newborn until she was a year old. Juggling the schedules, energy, and needs of four young children takes a very special level of organization, patience, and love and she did it flawlessly.

Lana was with us for over 2 years and helped with my newborn and twin boys. She was great with all of them, and my kids still love catching up with her, even my daughter who was about 2.5 the last time Lana took full time care of her! She truly is the best!

Lana is trustworthy, reliable, and punctual. She always came to work on time and stayed late when we needed her to. She’s an excellent cook, and was able to adapt to our requests – she even cooked some Indian dishes for the kids. We had the added benefit of having some friends in our building who would see Lana with our kids in action and would always comment on how great she was with the kids. She was always incredibly patient and caring. You really couldn’t be getting a better nanny!

While we had her take care of kids laundry and cooking for the kids, she was always willing to help out. if she saw we had our laundry unfolded in the dryer, she’d fold it without asking if she had time. We, of course, never wanted to take advantage so never asked her to do more for us since that’s not what we agreed upon. I’m sure she’d be willing to do more if discussed beforehand.

We never needed her to work weekends, but she was always willing to when needed and I believe has for the last family she was with.

Even now, when we’ve needed someone we could trust to leave our kids with while my son went for a surgery, she was willing to come and help out while her other family was on vacation. She just really is the best nanny you could find!

Ernie was with our family for thirteen years, starting when our older daughter was a toddler and then taking care of our younger daughter as well from birth. Ernie handled everything: bottle feeding and diaper changes; the transition to solid foods; arranging playdates; shuttling the kids to lessons and practices; making sure they did their homework. She also did laundry, cleaned, ran errands, and made dinner for our family. She even walked the dog sometimes. She was flexible with her hours, coming in early and staying late when needed. Pearl has been an incredible nanny for us. Her patience is endless and her love for our children (currently 6 and 2) is undeniable. She is kind, warm, thoughtful and flexible beyond measure. Pearl started with us when our youngest was just a few months old. Immediately they shared a bond which she constantly nurtures. She is very well-versed with the needs of a newborn and has been able to seamlessly balance the needs of our older son as well (which can be quite different!) With ease and grace, Pearl has been able to accommodate many changes to our schedule due to doctor appointments, sicknesses, afterschool clubs, etc. When our needs changed and we asked Pearl to pivot to different responsibilities, she did so seamlessly and without any hesitation.

Pearl is energetic and able to wrangle our wild children at all times. She loves spending as much time as possible outdoors and does not shy away from daily long walks no matter how inclement the weather may be. She gives our children her full attention and is able to gently re-direct them when their behavior warrants.

Daniela is truly so caring and enthusiastic. She has been caring for our almost one year old since he was four months old. I have watched her adapt to his development and needs. She has found wonderful daytime activities at the libraries and also spends a lot of time at the park. She is incredible with him, flexible with his every mood and communicative with us.

Daniela knows how to properly handle breast milk and formula. She is happy to prepare meals now that he is eating solids.

Daniela always tidies up, doing any dishes used during the day and making sure toys are put away when done being used.

Daniela is also wonderful with our cats, including one who is quite temperamental.

Yvonne was our nanny from the time our daughter was a few months old until she was 11 and she is an absolutely wonderful nanny. She is a very responsible, caring, gentle and encouraging person. Jenny stepped in and immediately gained the trust of our daughter who was navigating separation anxiety and difficulty with routine changes. She helped us through potty training and the start of pre-school, and then a few months later, when my son was born, she helped our whole family adjust to a new dynamic. This is a reference for Anita Rock. Anita has been our family’s nanny for our three children (who are now 9, 8, and 5) over the past three years. She has been a “super nanny” – in every sense of the phrase.

Prior to coming to us, Anita had worked over the course of nearly 30 years with two other families, both (obviously) for extended periods of time. When we spoke to them, they truly raved about her, about her commitment, her communications, and the degree to which she became a critical part of their families.

Anita has every bit lived up to this in her work with us and our children. She is genuinely a third parent – takes deep ownership over her job; has (almost unbelievably) not taken a day off in three years; is open to working when sick, when the family needs it; is genuinely and remarkably always on time, and in fact early much of the time.

For us, Anita arrives for us at 7:30 in the morning, makes our three kids breakfast (she loves to cook), gets them packed up and ready for school, helps get them out the door, and then brings 1 or 2 of them to school. During the time that they are at school, she makes beds, organizes the house, gets groceries, runs errands (indeed sometimes suggests errands that need to be run, then does them), and does any pre-work required for dinner prep. She then manages school pick-ups and shuttling our eldest two around Brooklyn for after school activities, play-dates, etc.

Our three kids are now nine, eight, and five – and Anita has been with us for three years, so since they were six, five, and two. Throughout, she has been impeccable in terms of parent-level communications – and also has simply brought a tremendous amount of love to the household. She worked deeply with our children to get to know them, to understand them. When she started, our oldest wasn’t super happy about having a new nanny – as he had spent several years with a prior nanny – and he showed up with some attitude. We were impressed at how Anita was able to work with him to win his trust and forge a strong relationship, despite his initial reticence. Our daughter got really into knitting, as an after school activity over the past year, so Anita decided to take it up with her – and now they knit together at home. And for our youngest, she has effectively raised him from when he was an early toddler – with non-stop love and affection throughout.

Anita, as a third parent, is able to lean into structure and discipline where needed. She ensures our kids show up with good manners and take ownership for different parts of their lives. This includes piano lessons, homework, chores – but also instilling good values, etc. This also very much jives with what we heard from prior families. When we were considering working with her, two of the kids she previously worked with, then in college, wrote us the sweetest letters about the many ways in which Anita shaped them as people.

We’re super super sad to be losing Anita, but we needed to shift to a part-time arrangement, which didn’t work for her, so we are now really motivated to help her find an amazing new family. She truly is a gem and will be an incredible fit for some lucky home. Anita lives in NYC, so this would be for a live-out position. Gloria has been an incredible part of our family and has cared for our children with the same love, attention, and dedication as if they were her own. At times, it feels like she is taking care of all of us, not just the kids. She is exceptionally caring, attentive, patient, and engaged every single day.

She is constantly reading with the children, planning activities, taking them outdoors, and keeping them active and stimulated. She takes them to the library multiple times a week and genuinely enjoys helping them learn, explore, and grow. Everywhere we go, people in town recognize her and often stop us to compliment how attentive and interactive she is with the children.

She is calm, gentle, and endlessly patient. She fills every day with purpose, including library story times, baby music classes, playdates she organized through her network of nannies in the area. No screen time, ever. She prepared meals when our daughter started solids, kept her clean and nicely dressed, and sent us photos and updates throughout the day without us ever having to ask.
She’s reliable, always on time, communicates proactively, has her own car, and has traveled with us to East Hampton. She knows the Greenpoint/Williamsburg area well from prior positions.

We are moving out of New York this summer, and losing Tashi is the hardest part of leaving. She has been the cornerstone of our household for the last four years, caring for our daughter Anya from age 1 to 5 and our son Savan from infancy to age 3. If we were staying, we would keep her forever.
Every recommendation says similar things: reliable, loving, great with kids. Tashi is all of those things, but that does not come close to covering it.

1. She handles emergencies better than we do.
When our toddler took a serious fall and cut his tongue, Tashi assessed the situation and insisted he needed to see a doctor right away. While we got the emergency dentist appointment set up, she took him there herself and managed the entire situation calmly. She handled it entirely, and better than we would have.

When both my husband and I had our flights canceled and were stranded out of town at the same time, Tashi stayed overnight without being asked. She managed bedtime, handled the morning, and kept everything completely normal. By the time we got home, the kids had not even registered that anything unusual had happened.

2. She thinks about the whole child, not just the hours.
Without anyone asking her to, Tashi makes sure our kids video call their grandparents regularly during the day.

She taught Anya the alphabet at two years and three months. By three, she was weaving math into ordinary moments throughout the day. Handing her blueberries, she would ask, “If I give you two more, how many will you have?”

Her discipline is worth calling out as well. She holds high standards for behavior but is never harsh. She is firm and calm in a way that makes the kids feel safe rather than managed. Because of her, both kids know how to communicate their feelings and practice emotional self-regulation, which is not easy to teach.

Both their favorite birthday gifts are always the ones that Tashi gets. She knows both their interests so deeply, and the connection they have is incredibly special. Anya loves school, but she still occasionally asks to skip just so she can spend the day with Tashi instead.

3. She builds their world with total initiative
Tashi does not wait to be told what to do. She completely takes the initiative to plan their days, keeping them physically active and entirely screen-free. She is constantly organizing trips to Governors Island, the zoo, and all over New York because she is always thinking about what will enrich their lives. Savan is obsessed with transit, and she regularly plans ferry boat rides, bus rides, and train rides just for him to explore.

She has also made many fellow nanny friends in the neighborhood and constantly has different playdates and activities organized for the kids. Because of her proactive nature, our children have a wonderful social life.

4. The fundamentals are flawless.
She plans and prepares three fresh, wholesome, and nutritious meals for the children every day. She keeps the kids’ spaces tidy and manages their laundry. When it came to potty training, she was an incredible partner; she even devised a sticker chart system entirely on her own that motivated both children and helped immensely. Logistically, she is an exceptional communicator and is always punctual, professional, and reliable.
Other parents from Anya’s school have tracked me down independently just to tell me how amazing Tashi is and how different she is from other nannies they see at pickup and drop-off.
