The Best Clean Diapers for your Baby

    By Marissa Oliva

If you’re someone who’s discerning about what goes on your baby’s skin, you’ve probably thought about the kinds of disposable diapers you’re using on them. And if you haven’t, welcome! From totally chlorine-free (TCF) to plant-derived, there’s lots of options when it comes to better-for-your-baby diapers. With so many “clean” options out there, we put some top brands to the test on our very own little ones, and this is how each one stood up.

    Hello Bello

This totally chlorine-free pick is crafted of sustainably-harvested fluff pulp and harnesses plant-derived core liner. The cute prints — they’ve got options for boys, girls and unisex — drew us in at first, and the virtually leak-proof design and sturdy material kept us going back for more. We were particularly impressed at how this diaper didn’t leak or blow out even after our baby slept a full nine hours one night.

If you’re looking for a no-frills diaper, this one is it, and for good reason: they only put what’s absolutely needed in this diaper, and not an ounce more. Despite its thin, lightweight texture, the absorbency blew us away. It’s worth noting that it’s the only diaper on the market that is EWG-certified, and it’s made in the EU.

Made of 100% cotton and extra absorbent layers, these diapers will keep your baby’s skin dry and irritation-free, so they’re a smart pick if your little one is prone to rashes or eczema.

This cushiony diaper is a go-to for us thanks to its availability in mass retailers like Target and the fact that each size is tailored to baby’s changing needs. For instance, the Newborn size has belly button cutouts for the healing umbilical cord and sizes 1 & 2 contain poo pockets to keep blowouts at bay.

These bamboo-based diapers are free of latex, chlorine, alcohol, and phthalates. And because bamboo is a sustainable resource, they’re better for the environment too.

    Coterie

While we didn’t personally try this brand ourselves, these diapers get rave reviews from friends and influencers time and time again. Totally chlorine-free, ultra-absorbent and free of over 200 chemicals, it’s a choice you can feel really good about. Additionally, the velvety diapers look premium, and have the price tag to match — it’s definitely the most expensive on this list.

This is the softest diaper we’ve tried out of the bunch, and the core really wicks away moisture while holding a lot of liquid. (According to the brand, these diapers have up to 12 hours of leak protection.) One of its standout features is how perfectly it hugged the curve of our baby’s legs to curb accidents
