Hi Everyone!
This past Thanksgiving week my husband and I and our two boys went to Disney World with all the cousins and both sets of grandparents. Yup, you heard me. We did Disney with 5 kids and 9 adults during one of the busiest weeks of the year. And guess what? It was great!
The trip was great for three main reasons:
We had no agenda (and for those of you who know me, this is very hard for me!).
Except for dinners, we did NOT try to all stick together (with kids ranging in age between 3-10 this would have been a disaster).
We tried to enjoy ‘being in the moment’ as much as possible (and did not feel the need to see and do everything).
For our 8-year old this meant running through Disney with the older cousins at top speed, ‘fast passing’ the more popular rides, trying to get as wet as humanly possible on the water rides and spending hours Lego building at Down Town Disney. For our 5-year old this meant meeting the characters, dancing at the parade, getting his face painted, eating foot-long churros, getting a sparkly Leelo and Stitch tattoo and climbing on Tom Sawyer’s fort for the better part of a morning. His least favorite part of Disney? The rides.
So here’s to the magic of childhood, drama-free family fun, and a place where “dreams really do come true”.
