Last week, I wrote about my summer obsession with S’mores. This week, I’d like to share my second obsession this summer: TED Radio Hour. OK, now at first I know that may not sound nearly as exciting as gooey, chocolatey S’mores, but trust me, it is! I listen to the radio hour whenever I get a chance. In fact, no one at the beach this summer can understand why I am always volunteering to leave the adult conversation and drag my towel down to the water to sit and be on “watch patrol” as all the kids/cousins/friends swim.
My husband must then explain to people that, in fact, I am not “taking one for the team” (although I like to pretend I am so I get a free pass from hauling all the beach chairs up after a long hot day), but that I am scurrying off to put my headphones in and listen to TED while I watch all the kids swim. Here’s a bit more about them:
An idea is the one gift that you can hang onto even after you’ve given it away. Welcome to TED Radio Hour hosted by Guy Raz – a journey through fascinating ideas: astonishing inventions, fresh approaches to old problems, new ways to think and create.
Based on Talks given by riveting speakers on the world-renowned TED stage, each show is centered on a common theme – such as the source of happiness, crowd-sourcing innovation, power shifts, or inexplicable connections – and injects soundscapes and conversations that bring these ideas to life.
Here’s to my new interesting, smart and inspiring summer crush – TED.
