Sam is a phenomenal nanny and caregiver for little ones! We engaged her as a part-time nanny for 3+ months while we were on a waitlist for daycare (during ages 3-6 months). Sam was incredibly engaged and proactive with our daughter, even starting at young infancy. Our daughter was never bored when she was here! Sam did daily stretches/exercises to help our daughter use and get to know her body. She sang songs, for fun and to help teach concepts, like days of the week. She read books, introduced colors and animal sounds, and did lots of tummy time. All of this fun stuffs in addition to taking care of the basics like feeding, diapering, and napping. Sam has been amazing at following our daughter’s cues as well, keeping her happily engaged and avoiding overstimulation. She has helped with nap training and with introducing solids. She is gentle, firm, funny, and confident all at once, and I can tell that our daughter was always at the forefront of her mind when she was here. Sam let me take the lead with everything I wanted to, but also had the expertise to answer my questions or help me brainstorm when I didn’t know what to do. Having her these months really helped me in the transition of going back to work. She helped me feel confident and competent as a new mom - while also providing safe and loving care so that I could relax while figuring out how to be a professional again. Logistically, Sam was a good fit for us as well. She was very good at staying in touch, whether it was scheduling or sending photos the days that I was in the office. Since my partner and I WFH a lot, it’s been important to us that is she so easy to be around. Working with Sam has helped me see a value in nannying that I didn’t believe before. After working with her, my partner and I discussed, for the first time, the possibility of not doing daycare and staying with the nanny model because we enjoyed having her so much. Ultimately, we decided daycare was still the best choice for us, though we really miss having Sam here every week. Josephine is everything you look for in a caregiver for you little one. She has 12+ years of experience with newborns-elementary aged children. She been with us for 2 years, starting when my daughter was 5 months old. As a first time mom I was very hesitant to let someone outside of our family take care of my infant, but after 1 meeting with Josephine I knew my daughter was in great hands. Josephine quickly became part of our family and we are so sad to move out of state and lose her. Josephine is so warm and nurturing towards children. She truly treats them as if they are her own. She is always singing, reading, and playing with my daughter. Josephine is also extremely intuitive and organized when in our home. She is always on top of bottle washing, making meals, and even folds my daughter's laundry they way I fold it! My daughter has food allergies and an epi-pen and Josephine handled it with ease. She is extremely mindful of what foods my daughter can/cannot have and always has her safety top of mind. I've NEVER been concerned for her when in Josephine's care. As a pediatric Physical Therapist myself, I was also concerned about developmental milestones for my infant during the days I was not around. Josephine was consistent and creative in her ways to entertain my daughter in developmentally appropriate positions (tummy time, sitting, crawling, walking). Josephine has amazing baby handling skills and truly helped my daughter progress. My main concern when choosing a nanny over daycare was that my daughter would lack socialization associated with a school-type setting. Josephine has been instrumental in her social development, far better than I could have ever imagined. Josephine quickly (and I mean in a matter of 2 weeks) made friends with other nannies in the neighborhood with children of similar age and set up 2-3-4x weekly playdates. They went to museums, parks, playgrounds, music classes, and took ferry rides to explore the city. I have gotten to know the other parents through these play dates and have become friends thanks to Josephine. Josephine is the kind of nanny who is NEVER on her phone, always engaged with the child (or children as I have seen on playdates, they just love her!), and has endless amounts of energy to spend. Lisa is the only nanny my children have ever had. She's been with us over 13 years from when my son was 3 months old. We hired her because I was returning to work. She had amazing references, but they didn't do justice to how great she was for our family. Lisa taught me how to be organized and made me a better mother. She showed me how to do things better. I highly recommend her to any family, and she can manage more than one child easily even if one is an infant. I think new moms like I was would especially benefit from her several decades of experience. Her first morning with us she arranged my son's room in a more sensible fashion, found clothes I didn't know he had and got him on a more rational feeding schedule that allowed me more time between breast feedings. I had no concerns going back to work with both of my children so long as she was there. (I had my son's sister 2.5 years later) Lisa was so wonderful for our family. As my kids grew, she was right there, showing me how to better care for them as they got older telling me what I needed to do to make sure as our family grew the kids adjusted. It’s rare to find someone who is as effective and helpful with an infant as she is with a teenager. Lisa is smart, savvy, CLEAN, and she has a wonderful way with children of all ages. She also gets along with the whole family from grandparents to kids. My mother is the only living grandparent and thinks of her as a second daughter and will call her directly about the kids. When the children were infants, she had them on a feeding and nap schedule. She'd read to them and walk them in the stroller. She would accompany them to music and tumbling classes. As they got older, she would accompany them to and from school. She attended games and theatre productions and would even help me when I would volunteer for school activities. She would dress up for Halloween when my 10 year old wanted us to be a box of crayons for her school's Trunk or Treat festivities. She would prepare lunches, breakfast, snacks and help them with homework and check their Kumon. She works very hard. She is a planner and makes sure to get the kids to their engagements early. She works very quickly - cleaning, dressing, bathing. (Well, she is faster than me.) She's quick but still thorough. She's an excellent cook. My children love her traditional cooking. She was a great sous chef when my children's father cooked. She also follows recipes well and can make just about anything. I had no issue returning to work with my children in her care. She was so helpful when I had my second child. I travel for work, and she stays with the children when I am away. She is family to us especially my children. We love her very much.
