If you’re like me, you’re probably feeling a bit cabin-feverish in the thick of the cold weather days that don’t seem to understand what it’s like to be cooped up with a toddler for days on end. For moms, this is a special kind of torture because kiddos with cabin fever too, are the worst. The. Worst.
Never fear, we’re here to help.
We’ve found some pretty cool activities you can take your littles to without venturing beyond Brooklyn.
If you’re in need of some inspiration to get those tykes out of the house (and give your nerves a bit of a break), check out these fun “Mommy and Me” activities in a neighborhood near you:
147 Remsen St., 2nd Floor
Ages: Classes formulated for new moms with infants age 6 months up to 18 pounds
What better way to shoo away those cabin fever vibes than with the latest trending workout routine? Xtend Barre holds special classes that allow moms’ to bring their littles with them for some added exercise challenges while getting some awesome bonding time! Get those endorphins kicking and burn some calories with a baby in tow. Classes require a durable baby carrier and are recommended for children 18 pounds and under.

Kids with pent-up energy are, well, to put it nicely, a pain in the toosh. Stomp and Shout at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music offers a wide selection of class times (drop-ins welcome too!) that let kiddos do what they do best: stomp, shout and generally be creative and fun little monsters. These classes let kids be kids in a safe and educational environment while moms can either participate or spend the time getting to know other moms in the area.
Classes offered at various locations around the city, contact Natalie Weiss for details

Bored with your typical kid tune music classes for your little? Try the Baby DJ School. Their motto: “Empowering the super young to mix music that is super dope.” I mean, you can’t argue with the coolness factor there. What better way to introduce your monsters to the arts without placating them with “baby bop” music? Keep your sanity with some kick butt tunes while your little gets to experiment with some dope beats. It’s a win-win!
The Wave, 230 Wythe Avenue
Ages: Lessons offered from 4 months to 9 years, and also includes prenatal classes as well
If you’re just dying for those summer months to spend at the pool or the beach, what better way to prep than with mommy and me swim classes? It’s a fantastic way to burn off some excess energy and get those littles ready for swim season. AquaBeba offers classes for kids as young as 4 months old! As an added bonus, they also offer prenatal classes for expectant mothers to keep in shape while relieving pressure and learning relaxing techniques.
Eckford Street Studio, 70 Eckford Street
Ages: Various classes offered for kids 6 months to 5 years, accompanied by a parent
If you’re looking for a creative outlet, try the Art Lab at Eckford Street Studio. They offer classes that include storytelling with mixed media creations. Parents and kids learn about various artists and techniques while being encouraged to create on their own and listen to fun stories. The classes are very engaging and include a multitude of days and times to fit any schedule. The best part? Art Lab uses all-natural supplies. Since we all know those little buggers will put everything in their mouths, it’s comforting to know all paints and colors are made with fruits and veggies, making them 100% safe if your little decides it’s better to eat their project than to create one.
With so much to choose from in your neighborhood, get out there and expend some of that pent-up energy, mommas!
Go have some fun with your kiddos and enjoy the quiet time later when they’re finally worn out enough for naptime. You’re welcome.
