Spring is officially here, and what better way to gear your child up for summer than to take swim lessons!
Our motto is “the earlier the better” – so that your child develops a love for the water and becomes a strong swimmer at a young age.
Many of the classes also require parents to swim with their child (especially if the child is an infant), so that is the perfect opportunity for some low impact exercise for you as well!
Swim lessons teach children self-confidence, make them aware of water safety, and increase their strength. And on top of all that, you can encourage language in the water!
Some skills we recommend targeting include:
- Greetings (e.g., waving or saying “Hi” to the instructor)
- Imitating motor actions/sounds/words (e.g., clapping hands, “splish splash”)
- Adjectives (e.g., “It’s wet/cold”)
- Action words (e.g., “swim”, “go”, “kick”)
- Singing (e.g., “Humpty Dumpty” when sitting on the edge of the pool”)
- Following directions (e.g., “Kick your legs”), and lots more!
