Breastfeeding Basics – Everything Moms Need to Know: Online Class Re-cap

We recently held an informative and important teleclass for expectant and new moms, generously sponsored by Lansinoh, and presented by Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) and nationally-renowned breastfeeding expert, Gina Ciagne.

Gina covered such topics as preparing for breastfeeding before baby arrives, tips to overcome some of the most common breastfeeding issues – like engorgement and milk supply concerns, preparing to return to work as a breastfeeding mom, and how your partner can support your breastfeeding goals.

Participants ended this session with important information and practical tips that can be implemented right away to make their breastfeeding experience a positive one!

In case you missed the class, or would like it as ongoing reference and support, you can find a link to the online class re-play HERE.

Since summer is right around the corner and many families “hit the road” for summer travel, we think this article from the Lansinoh site will be super helpful for breastfeeding moms and families who will be going on long car trips:

Breastfeeding Tips for Long Car Trips

Breastfeeding and going on a family road trip? No problem! With some minimal planning, your baby is on her way to being a road warrior.

  • Don’t mind driving at night? Nurse baby at her usual nighttime feeding and then put her in her car seat ready for bed. There’s a good chance she’ll sleep for the duration of the trip.
  • Plan ahead. Using an online mapping tool, chart out the route before you leave, and designate a couple places to stop along the way. These can be restaurants or shopping centers or highway rest stops. When it’s time to nurse, or you need to stretch out your legs, you’ll have options on where to stop.
  • Bring along a big water bottle. It’s important that you stay hydrated while nursing.
  • Pack extras. Extra changes of clothes (for baby AND you!), extra diapers, extra wipes, extra nursing pads… Extra of whatever you think you’ll need. That way there are no surprises between home and your destination.

Traveling without baby? Make sure your Lansinoh SignaturePro® Double Electric Breast Pump or Smartpump™ has batteries and you can pump on the road!
