Teachers and Education

    Hello Everyone!

“The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.”

    William A. Ward

Let’s honor our children’s outstanding teachers this week by nominating a teacher you know for New York Family’s Blackboard Awards. “The blackboard awards honor local teachers from all educational communities-public, private, charter, and parochial-and all grade levels, from nursery school through high school. The awards recognize outstanding, dedicated teachers from throughout the five boroughs, and enable them to share the honor with their school community”.

The hardest part about this assignment for me, is choosing just one of my sons’ many exceptional teachers that both boys have had over the years. Here is just one example of the types of emails my follow classroom parents and I receive regularly from my sons’ teaches at school:

“I tell the Third Graders every day that I couldn’t be more proud of their hard work, constant determination, and ever developing character.  It is a truly happy family every day in our class and I feel tremendously blessed to learn alongside of these exceptional people.”

So here’s to all the gifted, dedicated and life changing teachers out there whose wisdom and guidance help shape our children’s character and inspire them for years to come.

Speaking of teachers and education, what do you think of the Manhattan mom who is suing her 4-year old daughter’s nursery school for not adequately preparing her daughter for the ERB test? Do you think preschools have the ability to improve children’s ERB (which are really intelligence tests) scores?

Please share your thoughts below – we’d love to hear from you!

    Best,

    Heather
