Deceiving Looks and Family Adventures

    Find Family Friendly Activities

Last week, I was in Costa Rica for an awesome adventure-filled family trip with our good friends. While there, my friend and I were obsessed with finding monkeys. Nothing says, “I’m not in NYC any more” than a spontaneous monkey sighting. So, you can imagine my delight when, towards the end of the trip, I walked outside my hotel room one morning and saw one sitting in a tree staring at me. He looked at me, I looked at him, and I would venture to say the monkey and I shared a moment. My trip was now complete!

I bragged to my husband how the monkey and I were buddies, and showed anyone who would look my incredible close-up photo of my new “buddy.” And then my adorable new buddy opened his mouth and I heard his “sweet little voice.” Except it wasn’t sweet at all. In fact, it sounded like a dying donkey with a cold, who was scratching his nails down a chalk board while simultaneously opening and closing a rusty screen door. And he decided the best time to make this noise was at night. All night. And he decided it wasn’t enough to make this noise from a high up in a tree. Nope. He decided the best place was sitting on my balcony. I will let you imagine what my husband said about “my new little monkey friend” at 2 AM…

Here’s to remembering that looks can most definitely be deceiving, but more importantly, here’s to family fun and creating lots of memories.
