If We Are There To Live It

    Find Family Friendly Activities

Tomorrow is the 14-year anniversary of 9/11. In honor of all those who lost loved ones (my husband’s family included – we love and miss you, Todd Ouida), and in honor of all the brave servicemen and women who have died protecting this country, I would like to share a poem that my friend Julie recently posted.

Julie’s fiance, Sgt. 1st Class Liam Jules Nevins, 32, of Denver, Colo., died Sep. 21, 2013, in Afghanistan. According to Liam’s sergeant and friend, “If you knew Liam for any length of time, there is no doubt he made an impression on you. Good or bad, Liam would speak his mind, show his emotions, and make clear his mission. Liam’s mission was to serve his country, to serve his team, to be the best soldier he could be, and to help his fellow soldiers, from any nation, to the fullest extent under any conditions.”

So today and everyday, we remember.

    More Fair

    They left me

    with your shadow,

    saying things like

    Life is not fair

    & I believed them

    for a long time.

    But today,

    I remembered

    the way you laughed

    & the heat

    of your hand

    in mine

    & I knew that

    life is more fair

    than we can

    ever imagine

    if

we are there to live it”
