Dear Sweet Dude Proposing on 82nd and 2nd Last Night,
It is I, the nosey lady who inadvertently crashed your very sweet marriage proposal. When I came around the corner and saw you on one knee, holding out a small black box to your weeping, adorable girlfriend, it was not my intention to intrude upon your special moment. When I ran over and starting hugging both of you while squealing in delight, I realize this may have come as quite a surprise as neither of you had any idea who I was.
Call me a romantic, but I just could not control myself. In retrospect, I probably should have given you time to actually finish your proposal before I inserted myself into your once-in-a-lifetime moment (or I should have at least let your soon-to-be wife see the engagement ring before I did…).
Well, you know what they say about hindsight being 20/20. I do appreciate your letting me have a group hug and jumping up and down with your new fiancée, screaming, “You’re getting married!” Honestly, it was not until my son, who had witnessed this whole spectacle, said to me, “Mom, do you know that couple?” that it occurred to me that I may have let my happiness at witnessing true romance overshadow my good judgment.
