Martha Stewart Brings Craft to iPad

While I have tons to share about the exciting new app from Martha Stewart CraftStudio, I am going to begin at the end of this story. Because that’s where the custom sugar cookies from Eleni’s come in. And I can’t stop thinking about them.

And what brought these cookies and me together is the Martha Stewart CraftStudio App for iPad, now available on the App Store. Everything you love about Martha Stewart Crafts–photo decorating, scrapbooking, card and craft making–is at your fingertips on the iPad. The first crafting app from Martha Stewart allows you to create and customize digital cards, invitations, baby announcements, thank you notes, scrapbook pages, and oh-so-much more.

I don’t scrapbook or make any sort of cute keepsakes out of my kids’ art projects–in general, I am not so cut-and-paste-y. But this app is truly cool, and it’s easy to start making beautiful, funky cards right away. (It’s a bit addicting. Like cookies.) My three and four year olds were having just about as much fun as I was creating Father’s Day and Birthday cards on the iPad.

Here are some of the things you will love about this app:

  • You can share creations digitally via email, Facebook, and Twitter.
  • You can easily create high-quality prints at home using AirPrint technology.
  • Upload your designs for cards, announcements, etc. to Snapfish for professional printing.
  • Choose among classic and modern designs created by the creative, trend-savvy editors at Martha Stewart Living.

My girls and I were in the iconic Martha Stewart headquarters for only a couple of hours; we could have spent all evening pouring through the virtual “paper” backgrounds; adding stickers, glitter, and paper punches; choosing and changing fonts and borders–all inspired by the Martha Stewart Crafts product line.

The app comes with four themed bundles: Everyday, Birthday Party, Doily Lace, and Nature. You can add on to the fun by purchasing bundles of punches, papers, stickers, and glitter featuring seasonal and occasional motifs: Elegant Celebrations, Spring, Outdoors, Vacation Adventure, and Summer Fun.

The one-and-only Martha Stewart explains how to use the CraftStudio app in this video:

The app just launched on June 21st. To celebrate, there is a Pinterest contest with fantastic prizes (first prize is an HP TopShot LaserJet printer!). Martha Stewart Living editors will select the top submissions to be featured on Martha Stewart Living’s Pinterest page. Make sure you enter; the submission with the highest number of Pinterest repins wins!

Both kids and adults will be glued (pun intended) to the app for fun and function–even the less crafty ones! Always, however, the awesomeness of paper and a glitter pen will prevail.

I was given the cards we made, craft product samples and delicious cookies as a takeaway from the event.
