You asked and you shall now receive. It’s only fair for us to share all of this stored up knowledge about having a baby and what is going on with your body during those nine (really ten) months. We now will answer, in a very public forum, all of those burning questions about having a baby. Each Monday, we will tackle a commonly-asked-question from the point of view of an expectant parent. Chiming in to give feedback will be an expert (you know someone who does this for a living). Earmark, share and add your own input to today’s question; it’s good karma.
My hips are so sore that I am not able to sleep well at nights. How do I deal with this problem?
Sleep (or lack thereof) is one of the tricky things while expecting! As our babies and our bodies grow, keeping ourselves comfortable becomes a bit more challenging. Some expectant moms have found that it helps to position themselves against a firm surface – whether it be having your bed against a wall, sleeping on the living room sofa some nights using the firm back for support, or some expectant moms have had their hubbies participate having them sleep on their side for them to gently rest on! Some expectant moms swear by those body pillows, and some say they are like a third person and take up too much room. To note – there have been some husbands who prefer the body pillow than their previous cuddly companion – so some moms toss them all together to stay connected.
Prenatal Yoga is also quite helpful on providing more comfort during your waking hours as well as getting evening sleep. Its a wonderful way to increase relaxation, soothe our muscles, and rest of aches to help facilitate restful sleep and enjoy some nighttime zzz’s.
