MamaDrama NY: Motherhood Out Loud

    Find Family Friendly Activities

Squeeze and release… squeeze and release… squeeze and release. It’s the mantra of motherhood according to one of the actors in Motherhood Out Loud. She explains, at every stage in motherhood you need to squeeze and release or hold tightly and let go. It’s poetic in its intonation and one of the lines that resonated most with this mom a week after seeing the show at Primary Stages 59 East 59St Theater.

Motherhood Out Loud is a 90-minute show (no intermission) comprised of short vignettes about motherhood (pregnancy to empty nest). The 19 short-scenes are all centered around one of four chapters of motherhood: Fast Births, First Day, Sex Talk, Stepping Out and Coming Home. Each scene is acted largely by one actor and tells very poignant and truthful tales of parenthood. There is even a dad who retells his stories throughout too (because not everyone has a mom and a dad).

This show is a great one to see with both men and women enjoying the subject. Give yourself a night or afternoon out and go laugh, cry and enjoy watching someone else experiencing all of that tough parenting stuff.

Here are all of the details about the people behind and in show and how to order tickets:
