A Letter from Heather – Guilty Pleasures

Hi Everyone!

OK – so I have a confession to make: I am addicted to Bravo TV. There, I said it. I mean this addiction is right up there with my jar a week Nutella addiction. I wish I could explain it but I can’t. It’s irrational. My husband can’t understand why I enjoy watching anything “with absolutely no plot” (his words of course, not mine). Up until recently I felt like there was really no harm in this indulgence, until I tried to sneak in a few episodes while my 9 year-old son was in bed reading (usually I wait until both boys are asleep before partaking in this guilty pleasure). So there I was hunkered down on the couch catching up on “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” when my son came out of his bed room wagging his finger at me, asking me to “please turn that down so he could concentrate.” And then, as if I wasn’t embarrassed enough at this blatant role reversal, he turned to me on his way out of the room and asked why all the people in my shows “are always yelling at each other .” Um…good question.

So while I would rather not give up this habit completely, I will most certainly show more restraint and be more conscious of the shows I choose to watch.

Here’s to guilty pleasures at appropriate times and remembering the old but important phrase about “leading by example.”

Cheers,

Heather
