The end of the school years brings with it a lot of mixed emotions for parents. On the one hand, we’re excited for the lazy and luxurious days of summer – the unrushed, unhurried days when it seems perfectly acceptable to eat ice cream for dinner, stay up a little later, play a little longer, laugh a little harder.
On the other hand, we just can’t believe another year has gone by in the blink of an eye. We can’t even fathom how much our “babies” have grown, matured and learned over the past year. I woke up this morning on my sons’ last day of school and thought, “I will never again have a first grader.” I know that every year I feel the same way – that I wish I could freeze this moment in time for just a bit longer so that my boys could stay exactly as they are. Every year, I say the same thing: “This is my favorite year.” That is, until the next year rolls around…
Here’s to the end of another year and to knowing we still have many wonderful years and memories to come. Now bring on the summer!
