To Show You Care

    Find Family Friendly Activities

If your child, or any child you know, would like to share his or her Smilestone, please email heather@mommybites.com.

Welcome to our kid-generated Smilestone blog! This blog is the brainchild of seven-year-old L, who wanted to create a place where children could share their Smilestones. A Smilestone, according to L, is when “something really important happens in your life and it makes you feel so good, you can’t stop smiling about it.” So in a time when we read about so much “bad,” this is a blog for children to celebrate and share the “good.” As L says, “I wanted to write this blog because I hope that after reading my story, maybe you’ll decide to make a difference, too. Wouldn’t it be cool if even one person who read this blog told someone else, who told someone else, and one of those people (or maybe more) decided to make a difference, too? Maybe the difference-maker will be… YOU!!!”

To Show You Care by T

I’ve watched my mom and dad bring meals to people whenever they need them, when someone dies, has a baby, or is sick. It’s a way to show someone that you care, my mom says.

One of my good friends, who is only 10, lost her mother just awhile ago. I thought, “I need to bring her a plate of brownies and cookies.” It was my way of showing my friend that I cared about her.

I check in on her on the playground to make sure she is okay. You don’t have to do a lot, just let someone know you are thinking about them so they won’t feel alone.

T is 11 years old and loves to be outside in any kind of weather landscaping! He is an avid runner and has also inherited his grandmother’s artistic talent and is constantly drawing pictures and making cards for those he cares about.
