The Power of Connecting

Hi Everyone!

So last week a few of us from babybites flew out to San Francisco for the TechCrunch Disrupt conference. In addition to hearing incredible talks by some of the world’s leaders in the tech industry (one of whom was surprisingly Ashton Kutcher who is a well respected Angel Investor for start ups – and yeah, he’s really that hot in person!) and learning about new up and coming web-based start ups, we also had a chance to meet many uber smart, fun and supportive entrepreneurs, writers/bloggers and small business owners. As inspiring as the conference was, I found that it was often the moments in between the structured conference, where the most important connections were made.

For example, on our way out the door on the final day of the conference we met a super cool, smart and high energy woman named Cathy Brooks who writes a blog called Other Than That. When she heard a little more about babybites she said she wanted to introduce us to her friend who writes for Forbes because her friend was looking to interview women on a controversial tweet that involved women business owners. Well one thing lead to another, and I ended up being quoted in Forbes the very next day! None of this would have happened of course without this one connection that happened at the very end of this three-day conference.

Here’s to women helping women, the power of connections and the importance of the moments in between.

Best, Heather
