Back to School Preparedness…Or What NOT To Do

All the experts are abuzz with helpful back-to-school tips for you and your children: how to prepare your children; what school supplies to buy; what the must-have fashions are for this school year…But as a veteran mother of three school-age children who has acquired a lot of wisdom and experience throughout many school years, I thought it would be helpful if I gave you some quick tips for prepping your home for Back To School Season:

DO have a neatly organized storage space for each of your children. It’s nice to have a clutter-free place for them to hang their backpacks and coats and a specific place to put their homework.

DON’T:

DO keep school shoes neatly in cubbies to avoid the mad morning dash to find lost shoes!

DON’T:

DO be very picky about what “art” projects and papers you keep. If you aren’t discerning and you vow to keep everything that your precious Picasso-in-training creates, you will be overrun with sparkles, glitter and crinkled paint-splattered paper before you know it. So toss more than you keep! Trust me, your young Rembrandt won’t have a clue.

DON’T:

 

In summary, do as I say, not as I do! (Obviously.)
