I have to admit, my TV tends to be on a bit “after hours” (aka, after the kiddos are in bed and I’m working). Usually it’s dialed into some of my favorite reality TV shows and HGTV since these are light watching and don’t require much attention. This also leads me to not exploring the hundreds of channels I am given with my cable subscription.
Being the curious one I am, I decided to go surfing for some “green” TV shows. After a search both on my cable DVR guide as well as online, here are some of the TV programs and stations I came up with:
1. Discovery Channel: Planet Green
3. Green TV
As an added bonus, there is such thing as the Environmental Media Awards (the 21st award ceremony was just held on Oct. 15) that honors “productions, film and television personalities, musicians and musical tours that convey environmental messages in the most creative and influential ways.” Here were this year’s award winners (and all of the past winners are listed too):
- Feature Film: Yogi Bear
- Documentary: Revenge of the Electric Car
- Television Episodic Drama: CSI: Crime Scene Investigation – “Fracked”
- Television Episodic Comedy: Futurama – “The Futurama Holiday Spectacular”
- Reality Television: Real Time With Bill Maher – Episode 188 & HGTV Green Home 2011
- Children’s Television: Bubble Guppies
I think it’s time for me to switch some of my DVR recordings to some much more stimulating TV. Do you have any other good green TV shows I should check out?
