We all need time away from our everyday, chaotic, child-filled lives. And who better to go away with than other women who are in the exact same boat?
Thus, the makings of a Girls Night Away with 5 friends (with 15 children between the 6 of us!).
Destination: Portsmouth, NH with a bit of shopping in Kittery, ME.
Here are my requirements for a successful Girls Night Out:
1. A destination that has something for everyone – outlet shopping, boutique shopping, good restaurants, nice hotels…
2. A solid date planned months (and months!) in advance. As the children get older, so do the extracurricular activities, leaving less and less free time for Mom to get away.
3. A Planner. Someone who will take the reigns and make the reservations.
4. A common goal. For us, this was getting a jump start on our holiday shopping.
5. Time to chat. And vent. And commiserate. And support.
6. Fun drinks!
7. And finally? Laughter. Lots and lots of laughter.
