Earth Day is this Sunday, April 22. I’m sure you’ve heard of Earth Day but here’s a bit about it and how it got started.
– Earth Day is held every year on April 22 and is celebrated in over 175 countries by 500 million people.
– It was started in 1970 in California but really didn’t get to be the huge worldwide celebration it is today until 1990.
– There is an Earth Day anthem sang to Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy” melody.
Joyful joyful we adore our Earth in all its wonderment
Simple gifts of nature that all join into a paradise
Now we must resolve to protect her
Show her our love through out all time
With our gentle hand and touch
We make our home a newborn world
