What Happens in Vegas

Last week, the Mommybites team and I were in Las Vegas for the ABC Baby & Kids Expo. The Expo was ginormous and we connected with a ton of incredible companies. But it’s Vegas after all, so in addition to working hard, we also played pretty hard. Here are my top 5 reasons why I absolutely love Vegas:

1. Anything and everything goes. This is what I love most. Within 24 hours you can go to a conference, sit by the pool with a full on disco happening around you, get your nails bedazzled, drink grape vodka and sodas whenever you want, be unfazed at seeing people dressed as Elvis/Cowboys/or in bathing suits at night, get directions from Dr. Evil outside Planet Hollywood (remember him from Austin Powers?), get your iPhone fixed at Caesar’s Palace at 11PM if you accidentally spill water on your phone and it starts sparking and making hissing noises, constantly lose all track of time due to the sensory overload that occurs inside each and every casino, and high five people for no other reason than it’s Vegas, Baby.

2. It’s easy to avoid fights. I made the mistake of taking “Jasmine’s bar stool” (Jasmine sits at the 3rd stool from the right at the bar in the Venetian). When Jasmine threatened me with physical violence, I simply asked her where she got her amazing false eye lashes. We talked “Strips vs. Individual lashes” and hugged it out. Fight averted.

3. Wearing a Los Pollos Hermanos shirt will open any door. What better place to pay homage to Breaking Bad? When people see you in this shirt they want to do nice things for you (men and women equally, I may add). This shirt got me the last window seat on the plane, a room upgrade, a free drink, and to cut the taxi line – just to name a few.

4. The Bourbon Bar at the Venetian. 80s music and people actually my age, with women in clothing other than those teenie weenie skirts that women under 30 now wear. If you’ve never been, I highly recommend it (just don’t sit on Jasmine’s stool).

5. You are not sad to leave. Unlike a beach vacation that you never want to end, in Vegas you’re begging for it to end (until your next visit that is…).

Here’s to what happens in Vegas staying in Vegas.
