Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah or Kwanzaa, I think we can all agree that the magic surrounding the holiday season is steeped in family traditions. In my Trenches, we have a few simple ones that the boys look forward to every year.
- Buddy. Yes, it’s our Elf on the Shelf. Buddy arrives every December 1st and vanishes on Christmas morn.
- A Christmas countdown calendar. It’s actually more like a placemat with a wheel underneath, but still. Every morning, the boys look forward to turning the wheel one step closer to Christmas.
- A Christmas card display. We have a wrought iron Christmas card holder in the shape of a tree that hangs on the wall. Every evening, after the mail is opened, new photo Christmas cards are added to our display for our viewing pleasure!
- The annual reading of The Night Before Christmas. This tradition, one dear to my heart, is one that my parents started with me and my siblings when we were young. “…Happy Christmas to all, and to all a Good Night.”
What are YOUR holiday traditions?
