There is a plethora of information available online about almost every environmental topic under the sun. But looking for the best green products or a trusted green resource can be tricky. How do you know if a product is really green or if a site is to be trusted?
Not only that, but the term greenwashing has become quite popular as of late. Greenwashing is when a company misleads consumers about a product’s environmental responsibility or qualities. So how does one find out who is telling the truth?!?!
I have done my best to round up a great list of places where you can check a product’s validity and green record. Additionally, the sites listed below are also a great resource for learning more about your product of choice as well as discovering new green products too.

An interactive forum that allows you to evaluate advertisements that make environmental claims.
Environmental Working Group
Evaluates consumer products and recommends ones to avoid, based on chemicals & other unhealthy ingredients.
EcoLogo
Certifies “green” products in more than 120 categories.
Green Seal
Promotes the manufacture, purchase, and use of environmentally responsible products and services.
Energy Star
A joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy that promotes energy-efficient products and practices.
Terra Choice
Updates the state of knowledge of environmental claims and focuses particular attention on home and family products.
Rodale
The authoritative source (both online and in print) for trusted content in health, fitness, and wellness around the world.
