Being pregnant during a pandemic is no picnic. There’s the stress of carrying a baby as you’re navigating a brave new world of quarantine. But there’s also a sudden lack of exercise options with gyms and yoga and pilates studios shut down. So it’s time to turn to at-home workouts. YouTube is one great place to find a ton of free content, and we’ve rounded up eight great workouts to do when you’re expecting a bundle of joy.
New moms tend to have a lot on their plate. Not only are they figuring out how to raise an entirely new human, but they are also reconciling this novel responsibility with a vague resemblance of normal life and a dramatically altered sleeping schedule. Naturally, new mothers might feel they lack time to take for themselves whether that be through exercise, relaxation or fun. Yoga is an excellent opportunity to combine all three and can be done easily. At home, in any spare 20 minutes, they may be able to catch while the baby is sleeping or with another caregiver. A strong core also allows our babies to sustain a posture against gravity, which will aid development of their fine motor skills (small muscles in the hand), perceptual skills and communication.
