I have a crazy idea that I would love your input on. First, I should let you know this is the brain child of L, the seven-year-old daughter of one of our bloggers. You see, L asked her mom if she could write a blog post for Mommybites to describe her incredible journey in growing her hair for Locks of Love.
She described the experience as her ‘Smilestone’. A Smilestone, she wrote, is when “something really important happens in your life and it makes you feel so good, you can’t stop smiling about it.” We were honored to post her article last week and, according to her mother, she enjoyed sharing her “blog” posted on a “real mommy website” with her friends, teachers and family.
So I got to thinking: what if we invited all of the children in the Mommybites community to write about their own Smiletones and we would publish them on our website? The older children could write it themselves and/or dictate their “stories” to their parents. The younger children could share artwork.
Thanks to L for starting a revolution. Here’s to giving the youngest members of our Mommybites community a canvas to share their Smilestones!
Please email me at heather@mommybites.com if your child is interested in participating (please also know that for privacy and security reasons, all children will only be referenced by their first names or initials).
