Education and Social Media

Hi Everyone!

This week’s theme of the week is education (in fact, you can find a ton of great resources and articles on education on our blog and Facebook page. Here is a little snippet of a dinner conversation I had with my parents the other night that educated me on the nuisances of social media amongst different generations!

My mom: Heather – why did you poke me?
Me: I didn’t poke you!
My husband: Why would you poke your mom for no reason?
Me: I didn’t! I’m sitting all the way over here.  How could I poke her?
My sons: Mom, it’s not nice to poke people.
Me: I know. That’s why I didn’t poke her!
My mom: You didn’t poke me now. I mean on Facebook. I logged on and it
said you poked me.
My husband: Heather, do you always go around poking random people on Facebook?
My dad: How come no one has ever poked me?
Me: Um, because you’ve never been on Facebook in your life.
My dad: Good, well if I were, don’t my poke me!
My husband: Let’s just leave it that Heather will not poke either of you.

So it turns out my mom actually poked me by accident which she interpreted as me poking her (although she still insists I was the poking initiator, which for the sake of peace in our household, I
accepted).

Here’s to funny moments at the dinner table and to a festive and happy 4th of July!

Question: What has been your toughest lesson learned? Please share below – we’d love to hear from you.

Cheers!
Heather
