Tell us a little about you.
At my best, I’m a successful serial entrepreneur, passionate about early life nutrition and learning, and a loving mother of three little people. At my worst, I am a paranoid, obsessive entrepreneur, overwhelmed by a chronically messy house, driving my husband nuts with my constant juggle.
What or who inspires you?
I am inspired by passionate, serial entrepreneurs like Nancy Lublin – creator of Crisis Text Line which saves lives every day. Nancy is former CEO of DoSomething.org, and Founder of Dress for Success. She is driven, smart, and has incredible hustle. She could do anything and has dedicated her life to giving back.
Q: What is your best piece of parenting advice?
When you can, invest in giving your baby meaningful, real-life learning experiences when they are 0 – 3 years – like showing your baby how things work and talking about your everyday life. The brain develops so rapidly during this time, engaging early can make a big difference.
A few more tips here: 5 things your baby would tell you are on their mind in the first year (if they could talk)
Q: What’s the worst piece of parenting advice you have heard?
No one really gives you the advice, “Be just about perfect!”, but we all feel the pressure. We want our kids to eat healthy, learn things, be kind and get along with each other.
I hope I don’t sound like I’m a supermom because I’m definitely not! After creating the leading organic baby food company, 6 years later I found my oldest child coveting chips and anything sugar – especially if it has red dye 🙁 After being lectured by my friends to “let go”, I made him in charge of how many treats he has – to my dismay he ate 7 bags of Doritos in one sitting, and will go crazy on sugar and treats if they are around. We are working on it to find a happy balance.
Q: What are some of your favorite T.V. shows? Books? Foods?
Kombucha & chocolate – I’m completely addicted to both!
Q. What parenting books do you most recommend to parents?
Some of my favorites (if you have time to actually read a parenting book!) are Simplicity Parenting by Payne & Ross, Nurture Shock by Bronson & Merryman, Rachel @CanDoKiddo’s books on baby OT, Zero to Five by Cutchlow, Super Baby by Dr. Jenn Berman
Q: What are some of your favorite parenting products?
Ahem, so glad you asked! Well, my current favorite is the Play Gym by Lovevery – designed by child development experts for a whole year of play in one box 🙂
I also love Happy Baby’s products – especially the green puffs!
Q: If you could be someone else for a day who would it be and why?
Elon Musk. I am deeply concerned about climate change and would love to be in his brilliant mind for a day to see what solutions we have for the future.
Q: What’s up next for you professionally?
I spent the last decade building Happy Family, and will be spending the next decade fulfilling my dream for Lovevery to be a company that gives parents confidence, peace of mind, and ease in knowing they are giving their little ones just what they need at each stage of development.
