The number of children with food allergies is skyrocketing. It’s changing the landscape of food at home, in schools, on airplanes and in restaurants. And it’s changing how we think about what we are feeding our families.
Today, 1 in 13 children has a food allergy, the number of children with the peanut allergy quadrupled between 1997 and 2010. A life-threatening food allergic reaction now sends someone to the emergency room once every three minutes in the United States.
Last week, we held an eye-opening and empowering teleclass with expert and advocate, Robyn O’Brien, about food allergies. During the class, Robyn covered topics such creating a safe home environment, protecting your children in the outside world – in preschool, on playdates, at birthday parties, tips for teaching your allergic child and their siblings how to protect themselves, latest research, and more.
